Le Faubourg Sofitel: 1930s style

Developed from 18th- and 19th-century buildings, the hotel combines classic charm with modern functionality; features include a glass-ceilinged lobby and a sumptuous bar. Each of the 174 guestrooms is unique in size and layout; all have custom furniture, high-speed Internet access, designer fabrics, minibars, and marble bathrooms. Characteristics: The bright, open marbled lobby, the centerpiece of the hotel, is lit by natural daylight through a large glass ceiling, and at night by a 1950s–style chandelier above a large bouquet of white flowers on a mahogany console. The lobby has direct access to guestrooms, the restaurant, bar and library. The hotel is popular with businesspeople, diplomats, celebrities and vacationers. Amenity highlights: Two large sofas face each other by the fireplace in the luxury of Bar30, the setting completed by deep red wall hangings, dark wood paneling, modern art and family portraits. A pianist provides light entertainment during the evening. The library offers another sumptuous relaxing area, with black lacquered ebony shelves, an eclectic selection of books and a seasonal log fire. Light refreshments are available in both rooms. Insider tip: Foodies will enjoy a trip to the Place de la Madeleine, with its branch of delicatessen and restaurant Hediard, the Aguesseau market (on Wednesday and Friday mornings) and the renowned delicatessen, chocolates and cakes of Fauchon. Location is superb: The hotel is a two-minute walk from Place de la Concorde and the department stores of Rue du Faubourg St Honoré, and a 15-minute walk from Boulevard Champs-Elysées.
